Another Dent in the Wall

Hooray! Earmarks are to for-profit companies are now a thing of the past - At least in the US House. This help eliminate a way for congressmen to grease the hands of people that have already greased theirs in campaign help. The primary thing is that this eliminates no-bid contracts.

There are still a lot of issues. For instance there are a still a thousand other ways to load the deck for a specific company. The good news is that the simplest and most politically binding is now a thing of the past.

Why was this new rule created? Quite simply, it is easier for your enemies to put you up on corruption charges if there is a thread that links a congressman to a specific company. Much easier to look for trips to Cabo, golf club memberships, and of course campaign contributions.

So, still  a rotten apple hiding in politics, but now fewer worms.
